Refugees & Immigrants

The 1951 Refugee Convention defines a refugee as someone who “owing to a well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion is outside the country of his nationality and is unable to, or owning to such fear, is unwilling to avail himself of the protections of that country.

In layman’s terms, a refugee is a person without a home or a country. There is almost certain persecution or death awaiting if they ever return to their homeland.

The US government issues approximately 80,000 refugee visas per year. The government then uses non profit agencies, like God Is Good Foundation, to assist in resettling refugees in preferred communities across our nation.

Southwest Indiana currently has no agencies except God Is Good Foundation partnering with the government in this deeply needed compassionate ministry.

God Is Good Foundation is currently assisting with the Afghanistan response and is working on obtaining preferred community status for Warrick and Vanderburgh Counties.
